Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking + Hot Spring

Short version:

This was the most amazing trip and one of the best experiences of my life. 5/5 hands down, do it if you have the possibility.

Long version:

I got picked up early at 2 by Putu. Even though this was from Sidemen, they were able to be flexible and go outside the normal area of pickups. Putu was a great driver with a fresh car. We chatted all the way to the track start, but he offered me to sleep in the backseat if I wanted to.

Arto was my wonderful trekking guide who was very flexible and fulfilled all my requests.

It started out with the trekking to the top. Don’t worry about the time, they have planned it with a good margin so that you’ll be able to catch the sunrise. There where a lot of other people going up the mountain the same time as me, and being a competitive person, I wanted to get to the top faster then everyone else. Arto noticed this and kept a good pace for me while also making sure that it wasn’t too hard for me.

At the top we got an amazing view. Arto prepared breakfast for me by using the heat from the mountain itself. He was then a very engaged photographer and took many pictures for me while giving me location tips and posing tips (I’m not very photogenic).

Once I had finished enjoying the view, I jokingly said we should race the time to the bottom. Arto agreed to this and we actually went running all the way down, while he made sure that it was within my limits and I wouldn’t get injured. One of the most fun and adrenaline-filling experience I’ve had while having an amzing view of the country simultaneously.

After we got down, we chatted on while waiting for Putu to come pick me up. Putu then drove me to the hotsprings which was a great way to cool down after the hike. You will get sweaty and the extra cost for the hotsprings is definitely worth it. The view here, like everywhere else, was amazing and it wasn’t too crowded either.

To finish of, this was all standard price, despite me being the only one in the group and getting a private tour. Amazing customer service with an amazing experience. 5/5 without a doubt.

Amazing experience! The Mount Batur trek was sporty but so worth it. Our guide and driver were super friendly, the breakfast was good, and the view was beautiful even with the fog. The hot springs were perfect after the hike, and the coffee & tea tasting was a really nice bonus. Highly recommend!
